Nursing in the home

mecwacare provides in-home nursing support for a range of health issues, including clinical assessments, medication management, wound management, continence management, diabetes management, post-hospital care and palliative care.

Clinical assessments

We know that everyone is different, and that we each have individual needs and preferences. Clinical reviews enable our client to have clear input into the care they will receive.

Medication management

If not used correctly, some medicines can cause harm. Our staff work with our clients’ medical team to ensure medicines are taken according to advice and instructions.

Wound management

In assessing a client, we decide which wound dressing is most appropriate, then treat the wound and discuss appropriate steps to maintain healing, and prevent possible recurrences.

Continence management

Continence management plans support bladder and bowel control problems. We aim to provide optimal comfort and understand the importance of maintaining wellbeing and dignity.

Diabetes management

Treatments and programs, including recommendations on diet, exercise programs, assessing and monitoring medication, and advice on using insulin and maintaining circulation to the extremities.

Post-hospital care

We consult with a client’s doctor to personalise the nursing service they receive in their home to assist their return to health and independence.

Mobility equipment purchases and leasing

mecwacare can arrange an assessment and quote for mobility equipment, funded by your Home Care Package. Aids include crutches, walking frames and walking sticks, wheelchairs, mechanical devices for lifting, bed rails, slide sheets and pressure-relieving mattresses.

Enteral therapy

Enteral therapy refers to the administration of nutritional formula by means other than the mouth. Our nursing staff ensure this process is administered effectively and with minimal distress.

Palliative care

We offer palliative support for our clients, their families and their caregivers to greatly improve the quality of life for everyone involved.

Disability care

Our Learning and Development program ensures all our support staff maintain the specific skills required to deliver the often-complex care needs of individuals with a disability.
