mecwacare fosters thoughtful, respectful and ethical interactions and relationships to ensure resident and client experiences are rich and rewarding. Through openness in communication, residents, clients, their families and representatives, staff and volunteers are encouraged to discuss issues and concerns. Our staff and volunteers are supported to assist, guide and engender trust, and residents and clients are encouraged to gain the greatest level of independence and to be as actively involved in decision-making as they can.
We assist them to remain independent – for some this means living at home for as long as possible – and provide guidance should circumstances change.
An extensive building and refurbishment program ensures we provide modern, well-appointed and comfortable environments, where resident, client, staff and volunteer comfort and safety are paramount. We support our staff to be well trained and accountable, with ongoing learning and development a strong part of our culture, embedding best-practice into our systems and processes.
We work with individuals, families, communities and all levels of government and other key stakeholders to support and provide care for people in their homes (including aged care homes), in community housing or in their local community.
Over 60 years of experience means we are well placed to provide care services that are responsive to the needs and preferences of our residents and clients.
This is supported by robust systems and processes, ongoing monitoring and reviewing of government policies and legislation, and the continuous development of our own policies and procedures. We work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders, including researchers, clinical and technology experts, service suppliers, philanthropic trusts and foundations. Subsequently, mecwacare has demonstrated ongoing compliance with legislative requirements throughout a significant growth phase.
Diversity and Inclusion
mecwacare is an inclusive organisation that respects diversity by embracing each individual’s unique dimensions. These include knowledge, skills and perspectives that may result from race, ethnicity, language, gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, age, physical ability, religious belief(s), political belief(s), work experiences, geographic location or other ideologies.
Our Diversity and Inclusion Strategy aligns with our vision to deliver care and services in collaborative, respectful partnerships with all stakeholders. The strategy supports organisational capacity building and guides decision making and practices that impact equal opportunity and inclusiveness. mecwacare continually evaluates progress to systematically identify diversity challenges and vulnerable persons, and focuses on the enhancement of a responsive, participative, equitable, safe and respectful environment.
