Thanks to your invaluable donations and support throughout 2023, mecwacare has been able to introduce groundbreaking initiatives that offer comfort and relief to those in need. Among these remarkable additions are:

Dementia Chairs have enhanced the well-being and comfort of residents living with dementia, making daily life more manageable for both residents and caregivers in mecwacare facilities.

Paro Seals have brought solace and companionship to individuals suffering from dementia. PARO seals complement non-pharmacological approaches in dementia care, palliative care and for children and adolescents with developmental disorders. PARO can also be used to combat cognitive decline and depression by providing companionship to those who are socially isolated.

Painchek has been introduced throughout mecwacare aged care homes and has revolutionised pain management practices for mecwacare residents. In 2023 over 21,000 paincheks were conducted ensuring that our residents receive the best-practice pain management they deserve, improving their overall well-being and comfort.

These innovative products have not only enhanced the quality of life for those using our services but have also provided comfort to their families, knowing that their loved ones are receiving the best possible care.

In 2024, with your invaluable support, we will be able to expand our efforts and introduce even more pioneering care and wellbeing solutions.

Here are some of the initiatives that we have planned for the coming year.

Additional dementia chairs: With your continued support, we will be able to purchase an additional 15 dementia chairs. These chairs have a proven calming effect and comfort residents with dementia. These additional chairs, which cost $15000, will ensure that more mecwacare residents can experience the benefits of this innovative product, bringing solace and relief.

Technology for Fisher Street Disability Centre: With your help, we will invest in new technology for our Fisher Street Disability Centre. This technology will open doors to increased learning and development opportunities for our clients, empowering them to achieve their full potential and independence.

Research and development of lifestyle programs: New lifestyle programs dedicated to enhancing the lives of mecwacare residents will be developed. Your continued support allows us to invest in research and development and create tailored programs that meet the diverse needs and interests of those in our care.
