mecwacare Regional Centres

mecwacare’s regional community centres offer activities for older people, including people with dementia and people with disabilities, who can participate in a variety of engaging and rewarding programs and activities at our day centres and in the community.

These groups include activities, outings, gentle exercise, entertainers, music, craft, guest speakers, quizzes and discussions. Services are delivered by professionally trained, caring and approachable staff.

Transport may be available to those who live locally. A small fee may apply.

Community services at Garfield

mecwacare provides activity groups at the Garfield Community Centre. These groups are offered to people over 65 or who have a disability and are living in the Shire of Cardinia and surrounding areas.  Activity groups provide opportunities for people to connect with each other and their community. This includes people with dementia and people with disabilities who can participate in a variety of engaging and rewarding programs and activities at our day centres and in the community.

Who can join? People who live in the Shire of Cardinia and surrounding areas and are over the age of 65.

When: Every Wednesday from 10am to 2.30pm

mecwacare offers an activity group at the Cockatoo and District Senior Citizens Centre. These groups are offered to people over 65 or who have a disability and are living in the Shire of Cardinia and surrounding areas.

Community services at Cowes

mecwacare provides clients in Cowes on Phillip Island and San Remo the opportunity to participate in tailored programs that focus on the health and wellbeing of the individual.

Our Bass Coast Carers’ Program includes the following activities:

  • Carers’ workshops and relevant issues, such as Carers Victoria workshops, navigating the aged care system, useful technology, process for accessing residential aged care
  • Monthly carers’ Coffee Morning Teas on the last Tuesday of the month.
  • Monthly carers’ social activities, such as trips to Melbourne, movies, lunches and  gardening
  • Continuous support and regular contact through phone calls and emails

Who can join? The Carers group is available to any Carers in the Bass Coast Area. Please call us to find out how you can join: 5671 6888.

  • Monday outing group* 8.30am – 4pm
  • Tuesday Hall Based Group 10am – 3pm
  • Wednesday Hall Based Group 10am – 3pm
  • Thursday outing group* 8.30am – 4pm

Where: Phillip Island Senior Citizens, 6 Lions Court, Cowes (Phillip Island).

*Participants are picked up from home for outing groups.
