mecwacare's Residential Aged Care services offer 24-hour high quality care and lifestyle choices for older people. Our aged care centres provide ageing in place accommodation (where possible) and respite care facilities.
Our centres offer a supportive, safe and secure environment for residents to maximise each resident’s quality of life. The level of care required by each resident is assessed before and on entry and is monitored on an ongoing basis. Our residents have access to services including 24-hour nursing, medical practitioners, podiatrists, physiotherapists, speech pathologists and dietitians.
Social and recreational activities are planned in response to the interests, requests and choices expressed by our residents. Regular activities include outings, movie sessions, music, quizzes and many other opportunities to socialise. Hairdressing services are available onsite and any other services can be arranged according to the wishes of the residents.
Our 60 bed Sir Donald and Lady Trescowthick Centre, is in the heart of Prahran, close to bustling Greville Street, the lively Prahran market, and local cafes, great for visits with friends and family. The Centre offers excellent low and high care living in four linked resident houses, activities such as painting and strength training, and on-site services including hairdressing, kiosk and library.
The Noel Miller Centre in leafy Glen Iris can accommodate 138 low and high care residents within beautiful landscaped garden wings. Throughout, there are TV and games lounges, sunny reading nooks, kitchens and activities areas. Planned activities programs and onsite services are offered including hairdressing, a kiosk and library. Specialist dementia care is available at Olive Miller House within the centre.
mecwacare’s newest residential centre mecwacare Malvern is a “state-of-the-art” Aged Care and Well Being Centre in Malvern. Offering the highest standard of care, beautifully appointed and designed living suites and landscaped gardens, the Centre will set new standards in aged care living.
mecwacare residential aged care centres are fully accredited by the Aged Care Standards and Accreditation Agency. To ensure the highest standards of care, mecwacare works closely with health and community service providers – hospitals, general practitioners, respite and allied health services.
Admission
The level of care required by each resident is assessed by an Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT) prior to entering a mecwacare residential aged care facility. Health, social and personal needs are considered to determine eligibility and options for ongoing care. A referral to ACAT can be obtained from your doctor or your local hospital.
